On the old road

The plot tells the story of the Ancestor of the protagonist, who asks to return to his native land in order to take the rule of the city into his own hands. Something unimaginable happened: the desire of the Ancestor to learn the secrets of life turned into a disaster, and now the player has to expel evil from the lands that belong to him by right. In this he will be helped by numerous heroes and adventurers who arrive in the city every new week.

Here you can find all the classic RPG heroes of the Warrior, Dodger and Sorcerer classes. For each task, you can send 4 of all available heroes, which requires the player to competently combine the team. Each skill should be used to the maximum, because the game does not forgive mistakes. And this is its main charm. All saves are automatic. If one of the characters died, the game will continue anyway, but you will have to look for a replacement. And such losses will be a serious blow very often, since this hero could have gone too long with the player together.

Darkest Dungeon Mechanic Features

A distinctive feature of the game is the stress parameter that the heroes experience during the campaigns. It is accumulated during various encounters with the unknown, during terrible attacks or spells. As a result, the affected heroes get psychosis, which negatively affects the further expedition. You can heal the hero by sending him to an entertainment or spiritual institution in the city.

Battles in the game are lined up, where the positions of the heroes - near and far - play an important role. Melee attacks work only in close positions, and various spells, shooting or healing - in distant ones. A wide range of heroes and their capabilities will allow the player to try on more than one tactic in the fight against evil. This, as well as reliance on the element of randomness in battles, makes each campaign different from the last.

Family estate

All lands adjacent to the city are full of dangers. Here the creators have formed a wide range of enemies, with their own parameters, strengths and weaknesses. Typical features of these places:

• Catacombs. Ruins under an abandoned mansion, the very first available location. Skeletons and cultists flooded the gloomy corridors. It is here that two bosses stay, which are to be expelled: the mighty Necromancer and the mad Prophet.
• The Reserve. Transformed into a toxic dump, the Reserve has become a place for terrible rituals, and therefore is full of creepy beastmen. Among them are the Pig King and Living Flesh as a reminder of the terrible experiments.
• Thicket. A forest along the road leading to the city. Here, among the graves and bushes, robbers are hiding, armed with a huge Cannon, as well as the champions and creatures of the terrible Witch.
• Cove. A place owned by supernatural fishmen who have lived underwater for many years. The Siren, revered by them, lives here, and the souls of the Drowned Team, which cannot find peace in any way.
• The darkest dungeon. The ruins under the family estate conceal unimaginable horrors and secrets. This is where the final boss hides.

Each location the player is free to visit at will, even skipping the aforementioned bosses. The main goal of "Darkest Dungeon" is to gather enough experienced and courageous warriors ready to meet the inevitable horror in the Darkest Dungeon.
