Dota Underlords

Dota Underlords is a computer game based on the Auto Chess mod for the cult game Dota 2. This modification was developed by Valve. They added stability to it, removed all the gameplay flaws and released it in Early Access in 2019. The official release took place in February 2020. The game is available on smartphones and personal computers, including PCs with the Linux operating system.

Graphics on the forefront

The visuals of Dota Underlords are rather ambiguous. The picture itself is beautiful, rich and contrasting. Well-chosen shades, all models look very decent. The gaming tables also do not cause any negativity, they are convenient to play on. The menus are located to the right, left and bottom of the main play area. They do not interfere with monitoring the progress of the battle, even when information tips pop up when you hover over the icon.

But the stylization of true fans did not please. The heroes and the playing field itself look very unnatural. Units are more like plasticine figures or cartoon characters. Animations are very sparse, often repetitive. Also, due to the scale of the epic nature of some combat techniques, control over the field is often simply lost due to constant flashes, lightning from heaven and objects falling into the battle zone.

Gameplay

In Dota Underlords, battles are called matches. Each match is designed for 8 users. They are split in pairs, and after that the battles begin. When the battle ends, players receive their bonuses and change opponents. Loss is the loss of 100 starting points. The match continues until the last player.

The first three rounds will have to play with mobs. In this mode, items drop out after the battle. These are not random items, but a whole set of items and buffs to choose from. In total, after defeating the mobs, the player receives three offers and can choose the most useful for himself at the moment.

If you lose to a mob, then the lives of the characters are not taken away - and this is also a big plus. The only thing that the player will lose is the very choice of bonuses. It will be shortened or simply given a random item, but they will definitely show that the person has lost.

Items are handed out one at a time. You cannot load a character with artifacts and turn him into something indestructible. Thanks to this, the game balance is maintained. Items can be transferred between characters in the game menu or during preparation for battle.

The playing field occupies a space of 8/8 cells. The player's task is to choose the right team and make a formation. After that, the game ... does everything by itself. Yes. You do not need to control the heroes, the characters fight and use their skills on their own.

How to win?

In Dota Underlords, everything is pretty simple. Since there is no way to influence the battlefield in the process, you need to influence it in advance. Only the right tactics and combination of characters will give you the opportunity to get your championship.

First of all, artifacts affect the outcome of the battle. With their help, you can level the weaknesses of your characters or maximize their strengths. The first time it is worth grinding these items in order to reach the rating with a normal team.

The second important detail is construction. Of course, he can be broken on the very first move, but this happens extremely rarely. If you place the heroes correctly, do not allow to kill shooters and casters from the first moves, you can count on a 100% victory.

Dota Underlords has a lot of interesting little things that attract players:

• The game becomes interesting from the very first minutes. For example, already on starting mobs you can get special bonuses for mechanisms. They can be used on the battlefield, fight and explode after death, inflicting additional damage on opponents.
• Well balanced item system. There are no useless items that would only get in the way of your inventory. Each thing, one way or another, can be used effectively.
• Very convenient control. The game literally pushes you to profitable combinations. For example, if you move a hero to the field, then the characters with whom he is associated with synergy will be highlighted. Also, the game will not let you start the game with a small number of characters - it will ask you to add so that the user is not doomed to failure.
• The game is very dynamic. Preparing for battle lasts only 25 seconds. One combat phase is given 40 seconds.
• Each hero has his own alliance. If combining and not mixing warring factions correctly, you can get special bonuses for the whole team.
• There is a system of ranks and ratings. The game matches opponents of the same level for battle.

Dota Underlords is a free to play game that undoubtedly deserves attention. It's fun, fun and easy to use. Its multiplatformity is also pleasing. Even if you have never been interested in the Dota 2 universe, you should definitely try your hand at this project.
