Neverwinter Nights: Enhanced Edition
A terrible evil has awakened in forgotten worlds. Now, in order to save the inhabitants of the city of Neverwinter, you need to expose a frightening conspiracy, reveal a mystical traitor and complete an epic struggle. Defeat powerful forces seeking to prevent you from completing the quest and unleashing evil that your people probably won't survive.
Neverwinter Nights is an old rules RPG game based on the rules of Dungeons and Dragons 3.0, released in 2002. This is one of the most authentic and complete attempts to bring DnD to the virtual world. It's easy to get lost in the number of classes, feats and abilities; the number of options available for gameplay is simply amazing. But the game continues to live actively now: it inspired the fans to a huge amount of creativity, and it has one of the largest community of modders. Beamdog continues to fully support the development of the game to this day, releasing the Enhanced Edition and adding new tools for modders. The developers are fully open to requests for new features, bug fixes and player comments.
Start the game
The gameplay follows the third edition of DnD rules, which will delight RPG veterans. If you are not aware of these rules, do not be discouraged, your computer itself will roll cubes and count numbers for you, so even beginners can fight like professionals.
You can create your own hero or heroine, or choose from existing characters. From now on, you are in the game on your own. Instead of recruiting a group, you go on an expedition on your own, gaining experience by completing missions, and chopping hordes of monsters to pieces.
Neverwinter Nights: Enhanced Edition Gameplay
Treasures are scattered everywhere - potions, gold coins, books, weapons, magic stones, rings and armor. Use whatever helps you on your journey and sell the rest. If you run out of space in your inventory, extra loot can be put into magic bags (they not only take up less space, but also reduce the weight of some items).
You can switch between weapons using quick slots, allowing you to replace your two-handed sword with a crossbow or shield with a single keystroke. If your character dies, don't worry. Just use the Recall Stone item, which will return you to your home tower, where you will find your hero resurrected. Also here you can get medical treatment, buy or sell equipment. However, resurrecting this way will cause you to lose some gold and experience, so save often.
But do not rush headlong into battle again. Take a break and come up with a plan - some enemies need a fresh strategy. And if you come out victorious, but find yourself badly injured, use the rest key instead of expensive healing potions. A quick rest will restore all your health.
What's added to Neverwinter Nights: Enhanced Edition?
Neverwinter Nights: Enhanced Edition has a lot of improvements and content:
- Improved user interface: Hero portrait, health bar, inventory and other panels are quite capable of adjusting to modern screens, including 1080p and 4K.
- Advanced graphics options: thanks to pixel shaders and post-processing engines, the "visual" becomes cleaner and sharper. You can also customize contrast, depth of field, and more.
- Community Support: The original devs have teamed up with veterans of the Neverwinter Nights community to work on fan-requested features and support players, storytellers and modders.
- Fully Compatible: The game maintains your old saves, modules, and mods from the original Neverwinter Nights. Feel free to go and explore community-generated content.
- Redesigned multiplayer: A completely redesigned multiplayer system allows you to find worlds online and play with friends.
- More options for mod creators: new tools, shaders, filters, map textures and advanced resources will allow mod creators to make beautiful models and exciting mods.
Neverwinter Nights: Enhanced Edition includes:
- The original Neverwinter Nights
- Two expansion packs: Shadows of Undrentide and Hordes of the Underdark
- Three premium modules: Kingmaker, ShadowGuard, and Witch's Wake
The new features for modders are great. The developers handed us this powerful RPG builder as if to say, "Now let's see what you can do with it." You can draw maps in minutes, especially if you already have a diagram ready on paper. You can create scripted events, write books, place traps and treasures, populate your mods with ready-made or hand-crafted monsters. It may not be so easy to figure out, but it's much easier than writing your own RPG from scratch.
