The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt

"The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt" is the third part of computer games based on the Witcher universe, by Andrzej Sapkowski. The game has won numerous awards, including Game of the Year, and for good reason. Checking the ideal proportions of the RPG and taking into account their own mistakes of the past parts, the creators confirmed: "The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt" is a huge work and a colorful story that deserves attention and all praise.

Continuation of the book saga in "The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt"

The action of the game continues the second part, but does not rely heavily on facts, both in the past parts and in books. This is very convenient for those who are familiar with "The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt" for the first time.

The Witcher Geralt, who is called a mutant and a killer of monsters, goes in search of his old love - a sorceress named Yennefer. But when the long-awaited meeting takes place, the hero realizes that he has a very long way to go through the war-torn country. The adopted daughter has appeared from a long wandering, and she is being hunted. The witcher will have to track her all the way to find the girl and save her.

Despite the fact that the plot largely refers to what is happening in the books, it will not be difficult for the uninitiated to understand what's what. The plot is stretched over several large locations filled with an indescribable atmosphere. By carefully studying the area and talking with people, you can find many side quests that will give impressions no less than the main tasks.

Combat mechanics

For a long time, the mechanics of fights and crafting for the Witcher series remained problematic. In particular, controversial decisions, experimental combat and pumping systems. Far from the canons and inconvenient to control, the battles were left with mixed feelings. But in "The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt" this was avoided. Each battle resembles a dance, presented beautifully, gracefully, and most importantly - simple and convenient. The crafting and leveling system may seem unpretentious, but given the abundance of content, this can hardly be called a minus.

The witcher has a variety of techniques and weapons in his arsenal. Namely:

  • classic swords: iron - for people and silver - for monsters;
  • extra damage oils;
  • bombs;
  • potions;
  • magic signs.

All this can be used in battle at the same time, which makes it possible to try on the role of a professional hunter-tracker. In cities, you can find different orders for the destruction of monsters, and each such quest is a search in the footsteps, preparation and battle at the highest level.

Crafting items is a little different. First of all, you need to find recipes that either go as a reward or are purchased from a merchant. The second stage is the extraction of materials. Most often, they can be found by killing monsters on which the witcher takes orders. And when everything you need is in your hands, you just need to find a skilled blacksmith in the city to make a new item.

The Living World in The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt

A spacious and rich world awaits the player. The Witcher Geralt travels to places that are very different in contrast. Here are the provinces ravaged by war, which became No Man's Lands, and the city-state, mired in wealth and witch-hunts, and the islands of the Viking pirates. The player will have to visit everywhere and feel the peculiarities of each place in full. Overwhelmed by hunger, devastation, death and ancient magic, No Man's Lands are fraught with many dangers, adventures and amazing stories. The city, which is not inferior in size to the previous location, is beautiful, cozy, and full of beauty and danger in equal measure.

Many quests are associated with the underworld of the city-state. The islands are filled with the spirit of Scandinavia, charming in their identity and concepts of honor and duty. All this is well flavored with high-quality dialogues, beautiful cut-scenes and not for a second saggy gameplay with a narrative part.

A beautiful picture is complemented by mini-games in which the witcher Geralt can take part. There are 3 types to choose from:

  • Card game "Gwent". You can play it with traders and merchants. A simple but very entertaining mini-game aimed at collecting different cards to make your decks stronger. As a final result - games with key, plot heroes and a big tournament in the city-state.
  • Fistfights. The quest chain starts out like regular betting fights that get more serious and difficult each time. As a result, Geralt comes to the fact that on the islands he will have to clash with the Champion of Champions, who stands between him and the title of the best fighter.
  • Horse racing. A huge world would be bad without a faithful steed. The presence of a mount in an RPG is not uncommon, especially when it comes to the open world. Here Geralt can take part in a number of tournaments and win the championship title, showing the talents of both his own and his horse.

Summary

"The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt" is a game in which you can spend over 100 hours, and it will not get bored at all. The player gets an unforgettable experience and is imbued with feelings, both for the heroes and for the story of the game itself. And as a reward for loyalty - "the icing on the cake", two expansions that make up a separate little game in size.
