Zombie Army 4: Dead War
As in the previous parts of the series, the plot of Zombie Army 4: Dead War is tied to the same event: in 1946, Adolf Hitler somehow revives all the fallen soldiers of the Third Reich and turns them into a zombie army. At the end of the trilogy, the player sends the Fuhrer to the next world, but it turns out that the most fun lies ahead. In Zombie Army 4: Dead War, Hitler literally rises from hell to revive the Nazi zombies and plunge the entire world into chaos. And only you can put an end to this madness.
Four new characters will enter the battlefield: Boris, a tough resistance fighter; June, a mannered Chinese diplomat; Karl, the well-known veteran of the Sniper Elite series; and finally Shola, a Nigerian engineer based in Italy.
The resistance will pass through Italy and Croatia to hell, driving through such significant places as Venice, Naples, Sardinia, and other beautiful historical locations, currently being besieged by the army of the dead. Throughout nine chapters, each with several levels, the player's willpower will be the main front against demonic forces.
Gameplay in Zombie Army 4: Dead War
However, the plot in Zombie Army has never played a primary role. It is needed only so that there is at least some reason to shoot at enemies. The basic gameplay is as good as ever. Zombies are everywhere, and you shoot them until they die. Sometimes you shoot them to open the door. Sometimes you shoot to save the survivor. Sometimes you shoot to fill the fountain with blood. The point is that you are shooting zombies, and it feels very nice.
Despite the fact that Zombie Army 4: Dead War does not focus on history, it is very interesting to explore the world of the game. Here you will find comics, drawings, various references, pieces of lore, and the most beautiful thing - zombie hands. The latter, the most elusive of these, often hide in locations that are difficult to find or reach. These hands often do some funny things, such as walking on a rope, as if exercising before performing in a circus.
The game has a wide variety of enemies. In addition to the usual ghouls, the player will encounter various specialized zombies, ready to put a stick in his wheels at any time. Many of these special enemies are familiar from the trilogy, but new ones have appeared. For example, zombies with police shields throwing grenades from a safe distance, or blind zombies attacking the player if he makes too much noise. Learning to approach each type of enemy will be your key to success.
The game is very generous with ammunition. In the previous parts of the series, you constantly had to monitor the number of cartridges and save them. In Zombie Army 4: Dead War, this problem was fixed, the player will often receive ammunition in the form of drops from enemies and at special stations. But, despite this, the game did not lose in complexity: the player can use the first-aid kit only once per mission. There are not many other possibilities for treatment in the game: special grenades with "divine power" and spectacular massacre of the dead in close combat - a local fatality. Zombies will take you in numbers, so you will often find yourself in situations where you have to flee from the battlefield to survive.
Craft the best weapons with Zombie Army 4: Dead War
Upgrading weapons is also an important part of the game. Completing missions, sometimes you will come across safe rooms with a workbench, where you can add firepower to your weapon, or change it if you don't like it. Adding electrical damage, which also stuns enemies, or lifesteal, which allows you to heal on critical kills, can greatly simplify the massacre of the dead.
Also here you can customize the abilities with which you can customize your play style. There is, for example, a perk that resurrects you and allows you to kill any zombie. And there is one that gives more resistance in melee, if you like to get close to enemies and deal with them with heavy weapons. There are many abilities and upgrades, some of which are unlocked at higher levels, which encourages replayability.
For the Horde!
But the fun doesn't end with the main company, because the game also has a Horde mode. Here you have to defend the location from waves of enemies. Four maps from the campaign are available in the mode, including similar traps and the same three difficulty levels. Depending on the number of waves passed, new areas will open on the map, and players will receive help boxes containing better weapons. But, of course, the waves of zombies will get stronger and bigger.
After winning 12 rounds, you will have the opportunity to finish the level, but if you feel brave enough, you can try to stay and see how many waves of enemies you can clear out.
