Dead Cells

You wake up in a dungeon. Next to you is a chopping block with a gigantic ax and a decapitated corpse. Rolling an incomprehensible kind of substance on the floor, the hero moves into the body and comes to life. So, having picked up your starting weapon and shield, you begin your first attempt to escape from the dungeon ...

Dead Cells - addictive roguelike

The levels in Dead Cells are built in the style of Metroidvania: to get to some parts of the location, the player will need runes from other levels. Weapons, equipment and rewards on the map will be generated randomly. There is no resurrection mechanic in the game (with the exception of mutations that open later), the deceased hero goes to the very first room for a new body, having lost all collected weapons and scrolls. By the way, reaching the first "stop" between the levels, the hero will see a bunch of bodies used by him - previous unsuccessful attempts to get out.

This is the special thrill of playing Dead Cells. The player will always be faced with a choice - to play more safely, or to clear the enemies ahead in order to have time to open the door with important rewards, which closes on a timer? Hardcore? Don't worry, none of the shoots will leave you empty-handed. The game has a number of items that remain with you forever, provided that you brought them to the end of the level: blueprints and cells, for which new mutations and weapons are unlocked. The feeling of progression makes you go into the dungeon again and again.

Weapons in Dead Cells

The variety of weapons in the game is simply impressive. You can try out various swords, shields, rapiers, daggers, whips and spears. The game even has boots that allow you to imprint enemies into walls and floors. In addition to weapons, you can also add "magic" to the main slots, for example, an ice cloud that the character releases with his hands in front of him.

In addition, the hero has slots for the "secondary housing". In variety, they are also not inferior: here are fragmentation and freezing grenades, crossbows, circular saws, traps that spill napalm. It is important to find effective combinations here: for example, a crossbow will perfectly cope with enemies immobilized by ice magic. There are many such combinations in the game, and given that the player constantly comes across new enemies and equipment, the search for the necessary combinations to complete can take a long time in Dead Cells.

Among other things, weapons can have random bonus characteristics. For example, it can impose poison, summon minions, throw grenades, do more damage if the player has not lost health points, and so on. After fighting the first boss, the player gets the opportunity to increase the damage of the weapon between levels. But at the same time, his bonus changes to a completely random one.

Twitch Integration

The game has one more feature that is good news: streamer mode. The game can be linked to your Twitch channel and let your audience influence the gameplay. In this case, the progress of the passage will not go anywhere: all open weapons and cells given to the Collector will not be taken away from you. But the gameplay will change dramatically.

Your viewers will be able to partially influence the course of the game. Someone from the audience (a randomly selected user from those who entered the appropriate command in the chat) will help you until the end of the current location. He will follow you in the form of a chicken avatar, over which the viewer's nickname will be indicated. The user will be able to write messages to you right on the game screen, show you where the caches are, and he will also decide whether you can restore your health. The streamer can only ask for help. However, all the settings for interaction with the chat are configurable - you can treat yourself if you like it.

At each level, the chat votes to which location, the streamer to go further, which characteristic will improve with the found scroll, what additional parameters the next level will have. Your companion can be allowed to attack enemies, or the number of monsters can be doubled. Or force you to constantly kill enemies, otherwise your health will start to drop.

The mechanics of loot chests at each location are also completely changing. In this mode, viewers write commands to the chat to open it, while the streamer must fight off monsters at this time. The nicknames of the users participating in the process will be shown right in the game.

As the icing on the cake, after death, the streamer will see messages from users who can cheer him up or make fun of him. In general, the game has everything for active interaction with the audience.

Design

The world of Dead Cells looks amazing. Artists use pixel art wisely. Each level has a beautiful and unique design, achieved through lovingly traced details and interesting effects. The atmosphere of the game is also added by the high interactivity of the environment.
