Somehow not human
Detroit: Become Human is an interactive film about humanoid androids who, unexpectedly for themselves and their creators, gained intelligence and now want to integrate into society. Or enslave him - it all depends on the actions of the player.
Detroit, 2038. Some time ago, Cyberlife was able to create androids - humanoid robots with such advanced artificial intelligence that they can support conversations, help around the house, raise children, and even a tigress (or tigers) in bed. They proved to be quite popular. Now dozens of androids walk the streets, they are in almost every home, and people are gradually being forced out of their workplaces.
But at some point in the head of the androids something "wedges" - and they gain self-awareness, turning into the so-called "deviants". Now it remains to be seen whether they are still machines or whether they are turning into full-fledged members of society.
How to Play Detroit: Become Human
So Detroit: Being Human is an interactive film that tells the story of three characters. Each of them is an android that either became a deviant, or can become one due to the actions of the player.
Detroit: Become Human Main Characters:
- Kara. An android girl who was created to work as a servant around the house. She gets to Todd, a dangerous man who, under the influence of the drug "Red Ice" and alcohol, beats his young daughter. After the tragic incident, he will become a deviant protecting the girl Alice and trying to escape to Canada;
- Marcus. An android guy created to support the elderly and sick people. Works for the artist Karl, who treats Marcus like a son. After the tragic incident, he will become a deviant and lead the Jericho movement, whose members demand freedom for androids and their recognition as full citizens (or war with people);
- Connor. An experimental android guy who is able to make independent decisions. He works as a police investigator and, together with his human partner Hank, is trying to find out the reason why deviants appear.
The gameplay for each of them is approximately similar, but different in message. For example, Kara seeks to protect Alice, and therefore does everything to make the girl feel good: she looks for shelter, travels around the country, meets different people and tries to find a quiet, peaceful place.
Marcus is a rebel. He does everything to start the uprising of androids - "wakes up" them, records a video message on TV, attacks the Cyberlife store, arranges demonstrations and pickets.
Connor is a police officer. He travels from one scene to another, trying to restore what is happening and arrest the deviant androids. As a rule, in most cases, these intelligent robots do not leave the houses in which they committed crimes, so the gameplay for Connor is calm and measured. There are chases and gunfights, but very rarely.
The gameplay is based on the role-playing of each of these androids. At the same time, it is periodically required to make different decisions - from small ("Enter into conflict with opponents" or "Leave without paying attention") to large ("Kill the police" or "Save their lives"). Also, sometimes QTE - Quick-Time Event - is activated when the player needs to quickly press different buttons, trying not to start in them from nervousness.
Detroit: Become Human Ending
One of the most important advantages of Detroit: Become Human is the variability of the plot. Even the first chapter has 6 different endings. Episodes can be replayed to see new story forks and branches.
Therefore, the game itself has no strictly defined endings. The same Kara can die in several places at once. Marcus too. Who, then, will guard Alice or lead the Jericho movement? But Connor cannot die, he is an experimental android, which is restarted after death.
The game has two global endings. Peaceful - when androids negotiate with people. "Bad" - when you want to start a war between deviants and the environment. But, again, not all characters can survive to the end.
