Fallout 76
There is probably no point in retelling the history of the Fallout world. The series includes about a dozen games, which have the same plot: in 2077 there was an atomic war, nuclear bombs destroyed almost all living things, and only in the USA a certain number of people were saved in the Vaults. For one reason or another, the doors of these bunkers open - and their inhabitants are sent to explore the destroyed world, on the ruins of which other survivors are building a new civilization.
Everything is exactly the same in Fallout 76. Only now this role-playing game is multiplayer. So civilization will have to be rebuilt in the company of other gamers from all over the world, and not all of them are kind, altruistic and just good people.
I will definitely survive (in West Virginia)
2102, West Virginia, USA. The smartest and most useful people for society were recruited into the local Shelter, whose task is to rebuild civilization from scratch. Among them is a character controlled by the player. Unfortunately, he slept through the moment of the solemn exit from the Vault, so he will have to get out in splendid isolation.
Finding himself in the fresh Virgin air, he finds out that the state is in danger from the so-called "burned" - infected with an unknown virus of local residents who eventually turn into stone, and then completely crumble into dust. The player's task is to find out where this infection came from and what to do next.
The storyline campaign is relatively short and simply introduces the player to the peculiarities of the local world. Already at the first major location, he meets other characters - after all, we are talking about a multiplayer project - but for now they can be ignored by completing the main tasks. And they lead the player first to the bunkers of the Enclave (government organization), and then confront the Queen of the Scorching Beasts - a large dangerous monster that looks like a mixture of a dragon and a bat. After its destruction, the storyline campaign ends - and do what you want.
What to do in Fallout 76
The multiplayer action RPG Fallout 76 is a rather strange project. On the one hand, the idea of joint survival in a post-apocalyptic world is very attractive: you can, together with other players, collect resources and craft all sorts of interesting things, take control of settlements or launch raids on other characters in order to profit from some values and play the role of a raider. P >
But the Fallout series itself has always been interesting for its elaborate plots. The player found himself in an already rebuilding world, with his own political "graters" and social hierarchy. Each character had a history and ideology behind him. I constantly had to make decisions for which I had to reproach myself.
In Fallout 76, all this is not, because there is no world either. It only needs to be rebuilt, anew, from scratch. And to rebuild literally - to stand behind a workbench and craft everything, from houses to beds, from weapons to those pretty little plates with flowers. And it's not for this that we move to the post-apocalyptic world to go to work there.
In this regard, even Fallout 2 was more thoughtful. They had GECK - the Compact Eden Tabernacle Generator. You press a button - and the world around you is restored, gardens begin to bloom, apple trees bear fruit, and nature is so cleansed that two-headed deer return to the forests.
So what to do in Fallout 76 after completing the main quest:
- Pick up all side quests. They are "issued" when finding various items;
- Walk through West Virginia looking for random events;
- Decorate your home and hope it won't be raided by raiders;
- Deal with the raiders when they do run in;
- Build a vending machine and sell various material values to other players for caps;
- Understand that there are still not enough caps, and shake your fist towards the Bethesda headquarters (in real life);
- Launch a nuclear bomb at the neighbors on the map;
- Become a Battle Nun of the Order of Mysteries;
- Kill an innocent player and get hit by others on the server.
In general, have fun!
Fallout 76 Expansions
Bethesda is not abandoning players to survive in dilapidated Virginia. She also periodically releases updates and additions, which are designed to somehow diversify existence. The biggest additions to Fallout 76 are:
- Wild Appalachia. Released in 2019, added some interesting items and mechanics for their production and storage. Finally, you can drive moonshine! And with it, survival in West Virginia becomes much more interesting;
- Nuclear Winter. Released in 2019, added Battle Royale mode and several new missions;
- Wastelanders. Released in 2020, added NPCs and some new quests.
With each update, the amount of endgame content in Fallout 76 is increasing.
