Fallout Shelter

The history of the Fallout world is probably known to everyone. But if you suddenly missed something - it's okay. In 2077, another war broke out in the world, countries used nuclear weapons, and practically nothing remained of the states.

Shortly before this event, the American company Vault-Tec realized that the case smelled fried, and began to build dozens of shelters throughout the United States. In these underground dwellings, the chosen citizens of the freest country in the world could wait out the nuclear apocalypse, and then, when the radioactive ash settles, come to the surface and rebuild society.

True, the Vault-Tec company itself pursued its own goals. She used the Vaults as sites for social experimentation. And now one of them comes under your control. Attention, the doors are closing. Now - create a new interesting society underground.

We are ours, we will build a new world

Fallout Shelter is connected with the rest of Fallout world only indirectly - setting. The game is set in a devastated post-apocalyptic America, which is somewhere behind the scenes. Under the control of the player playing the role of the Overseer - the shelter. And he needs to do everything so that its inhabitants are happy, well-fed, contented, fruitful and multiply.

Therefore, the gameplay at the first stages seems to be quite simple. Build power plants, cafeterias and water treatment generators, send employees there - and let them work for the good of the shelter.

Further more interesting moments begin. First, the needs of the Vault dwellers grow at the same time as their number. Have a new baby been born? Well, he needed to build more cafeterias for him to have something to eat. However, each new room consumes energy. Expanding the power plant ... there are not enough employees. We need to give birth to a new child. And no one will throw up the maternity capital.

As soon as everything more or less "settled down", as radroaches attack the Shelter. Or raiders come running who want to get rid of local residents and plunder their food supplies. Or a fire breaks out in the room. Or an inspector arrives at all, out of nowhere. Residents are scared, cannot work, do not want to mess with children ...

How to play Fallout Shelter

So, most of the gameplay in Fallout Shelter is aimed at solving two problems - to make all the inhabitants of the Vault as happy as possible and to cope with various external problems.

At some point it can get bored. Then you can take some inhabitant of the Vault and send him to explore the wasteland. He will return from there with all sorts of valuables - weapons, armor, suits, caps (the local alternative to money) and so on. Or it won't come back, depending on luck.

Each of the residents is a full-fledged individual character. He has character, level and S.P.E.C.I.A.L. These parameters affect the gameplay. For example, a power plant requires high Strength. If you send weak characters there, then the required current will be produced very slowly. Likewise - with the water treatment plant (it requires perception, or Perception), the cafeteria (you need dexterity, or Agility) and the rest of the rooms.

Any parameter can be improved in two ways. The first is to change the character's clothes. Almost each of the suits gives a plus not only to protection, but also to various characteristics from the S.P.E.C.I.A.L. The second is to send the character to a special gym. But it is worth considering that he spends a lot of time in such rooms, and while he is "swinging", the Shelter does not receive its electricity, water or food.

Shopping in the Fallout Shelter

Fallout Shelter itself is free to play. However, it does include in-app purchases. For real money, you can buy various improvements, which are already available for free, so there will be no imbalance.

In-app purchases include:

  • Lunchboxes. Boxes with a random set of amenities - lids, legendary characters, rare artifacts, and so on;
  • Mister Helper. A robot that performs some routine actions for the player, such as collecting ready-made food, electricity or purified water;
  • Pets. As the name implies, various pets. When assigning them to a character, the characteristics of that character increase;
  • The cap itself. There is never a lot of in-game currency. Moreover, it is spent very actively - for a variety of purposes.

These options improve some aspects of the gameplay, but they do not provide any significant and noticeable "boost".
