Heroes of Might and Magic III: The Shadow of Death

In general, the third "Heroes" have a plot. Seriously. If you do not skip the initial splash screen, and then start going through the campaign and in each mission read kilometers of text in pop-up windows, a very tragic story will become clear.

Once upon a time, the continent of Enroth was engulfed in a heavy War of the Heirs. Because of this, some knights and wizards had to flee from it to the neighboring Antagarich. However, everything is not very good there either - the locals suffer from necromancers who seize more and more lands and are able to revive the dead, adding them to their army.

Among these necromancers is a lich named Sandro. He first tricks himself into the trust of several wizards, forcing them to collect powerful artifacts, and then takes possession of these relics and becomes one of the most dangerous and deadly characters. The rest of the heroes have to unite to stop Sandro.

But who actually plays Heroes of Might and Magic III: The Shadow of Death for the story?

We all need Heroes

Heroes of Might and Magic III: The Shadow of Death is a turn-based strategy game that features rich factions and balanced gameplay. Therefore, none of the castles that the player chooses before the start of the match will surpass the others in strength of the units, but at the same time each offers its own process of development, pumping and combat tactics.

For example, "Tower" is a castle with three arrows and magicians, but at the same time it is very expensive in terms of acquiring units and building buildings. "Citadel" will cost significantly less, and creatures of the seventh level can be hired already in the first week, but at the same time there are few archers, and magic is given to heroes with difficulty. Necromancers replenish their army after each battle, but they have serious problems with the morale of the soldiers.

In general, the factions, with some general similarity, offer radically different gameplay. The tower is for magic lovers. The citadel is exclusively for the sword. The castle is for politics lovers.

And this is well manifested in fights. You can pump the magic of the hero from the Tower for a long time, and then face a character from the Stronghold, almost every creature in which has immunity to magic.

Gameplay Heroes of Might and Magic III: The Shadow of Death

Third "Heroes" is a turn-based strategy game. That is, the character has a certain amount of action points that he can spend until his turn ends. For example, take a walk on the map, visiting several interesting places and bumping into the local inhabitants. Then the turn ends - and begins for other players on the map.

Battles take place in a similar way. Each creature on the field has the opportunity to perform some action: hit the enemy, move across the territory, use magic, or just stand still, acquiring increased defense. Therefore, fights require strategic thinking from the player.

Heroes of Might and Magic III: The Shadow of Death factions, races and features

The mainland Antagarich is inhabited by eight conflicting races:

  • Castle. The human race - among the creatures are various spearmen, archers and other cavalrymen, as well as a few griffins and angels. Can "pump" both magic and combat tactics, but it manifests itself best in politics;
  • Stronghold. Elven Castle - centaurs, dwarves, unicorns and dragons. They are good at tactics, in monetary gain. The main advantage is resistance to magic;
  • Tower. The race of magicians - genies, golems, nagas. Excellent in magic, including combat. Perhaps the most expensive castle. Some characters have increased damage to Dungeon creatures;
  • Inferno. Race of devils - demons, gogs and other archdevils. Quite weak creatures, but this is compensated by their speed and multiplicity;
  • Necropolis. A race of undead - skeletons, zombies, ghosts. Hero-necromancers after each battle raise several new soldiers to their army. Immune to some spells, have morale issues;
  • Dungeon. The race of "dark elves" - troglodytes, harpies, jellyfish and minotaurs. Similar to the Tower, as they are very good at fighting spells, and the black dragon is invulnerable to magic;
  • Citadel. The barbarian race - goblins, orcs, ogres and cyclops. Not very good at magic, better with swords. There are many huge monsters in the army, which is great when storming cities;
  • Fortress. A race of swamp inhabitants - gnolls, basilisks, hydras. They are especially good at defense, they have many unique abilities: they can turn the enemy into stone, poison him, or guaranteed to kill at least 1 creature from the squad.

Now is the time to choose the perfect tactics for yourself and go to conquer Antagarich!
