Title Fight Pro Boxing for Windows

Sports simulators have gone through a very long history. Why, even one of the very first computer games belonged to this genre! We are talking about "Ping-Pong", a kind of analogue of Arcanoid, with only two movable platforms.

And, what is especially interesting, the first sports simulators did not differ too much from the modern ones in terms of the environment during development. Now game creators are trying to conclude exclusive contracts with clubs and teams so that some "star" appears on the cover of the project. And almost thirty years ago the situation was exactly the same. Only, of course, the games themselves look like a set of pixels and sprites, and not like a real broadcast from a sports match. But what can you do - that was the technology in those days.

Title Fight Pro Boxing for Windows is a good example of an "old" sports simulator. The name alone speaks of her venerable age. The words for Windows in it mean ... for Windows 3.X. The game was released in 1993.

Pixelated, but licensed athletes

In 1993, the title Fight Pro Boxing for Windows game was literally praised by critics - who, of course, managed to get to it. Something went wrong, so the circulation of the project was penny. And computers in those wonderful times were by no means in every home.

Computer Gaming World received its copy in October 1995. The CGW itself, by the way, is one of the “mastodons” of the gaming industry. It began to appear in 1981, when even the very concept of "computer games" did not fully exist, and journalists had to write whole spreads about Arkanoid. So, Computer Gaming World gave Title Fight Pro Boxing for Windows as much as 80 points out of 100 possible.

The game also went to PC Gamer magazine. They received their copy in 1996. By the way, the PC Gamer magazine itself still exists, although it began to appear back in 1993. And it is quite printed. Perhaps without a disc with demo versions of games - he abandoned it in the early 2010s, promising users more online materials and better paper quality. PC Gamer gave Title Fight Pro Boxing for Windows a score of 79 out of 100 possible.

The journalists of this publication did not like the fact that the commentator poorly follows what is happening in the ring and often gives out completely inappropriate remarks. Even in 1996, the editors of the game-geeks managed to find fault with the project out of the blue!

But what the representatives of both magazines liked was the number of licensed athletes. Of course, the characters themselves looked like a "pixel stick-stick-cucumber", but this did not stop them from behaving exactly like real prototypes:

  • Muhammad Ali. The main technique is a shuffle, which is described by the famous catch phrase “fly like a butterfly, sorry like a bee”. This is practically a dance - Ali started jumping on one leg, jumping to the other and back, rhythmically moving his arms, making almost running movements, without moving from a place, and then unleashing a stream of blows on the opponent;
  • Sugar Ray Robinson. Essentially the founder of "dance" techniques in boxing. His style has greatly influenced the movements that Muhammad Ali uses. Thanks to his techniques, he moves around the ring almost at lightning speed, distracting his opponents and striking them one successful blow after another. Moreover, it was thanks to Robinson in boxing that an athlete's mobility became an indicator of his high qualifications, and not a sign of cowardice;
  • Jake "Raging Bull" Lamotte. Known for his indomitable and insane disposition. For 13 years of his career he has never been knocked out, and he has been knocked down once, at the end of his sports performances;
  • Joe Louis. Known by the nickname "The Brown Bomber." And he got it thanks to a special technique - he ran back to the ropes at the border of the ring, pushed off from them, and pounced on the opponent with a vengeance.

Perhaps, even sports fans will not remember many of these boxers. They have been performing for too long. But the game is not new either.

Technical part of Title Fight Pro Boxing for Windows

It's amazing, but for its age, Title Fight Pro Boxing for Windows was very, very technologically advanced. Just sound comments to what is happening in the ring are worth what! Or individual techniques of each of the fighters.

But the main thing is that the game has a rating system. Each successfully completed battle or committed move raises the character a couple of lines up the standings. In fact, this is practically a career mode - only taking into account the age and release date of the project.

Title Fight Pro Boxing for Windows Gameplay

Another nice feature of Title Fight Pro Boxing for Windows is arcade. The fights are short, taking only a few minutes, but very intense.

Therefore, the game will appeal even to those who are not boxing fans. If, of course, it can be found in the 2020s.
