Mass Effect: Andromeda
None of the Mass Effect 3 endings left room for a sequel. In history, in any case, a big bullet was put, and Captain Shepard could not go on another adventure. But BioWare Montreal and Electronic Arts studios saw the sale of Mass Effect 3 and realized there were still plenty of interesting places to visit in the galaxy.
And so Mass Effect: Andromeda was born - the very controversial game in the series, after which the point set earlier became even larger and fatter.
It's hard to be a pioneer
Studio BioWare Montreal decided almost immediately to separate "flies from cutlets" - she said that the plot and events in Mass Effect: Andromeda will be distant from the history of the previous three games "both in distance and in time." And she didn’t lie in any place. Mass Effect: Andromeda is set in principle in another galaxy - in the Andromeda galaxy. Where next?
So, the plot. In 20185, a huge ship "Nexus" is launched in the direction of the Andromeda galaxy from the solar system, which will become the command center for future colonists. It is inhabited by representatives of five races - in addition to humans, there are also salarians, turians, asari and krogan. In general, all familiar faces (and muzzles)!
After a while, after the Nexus, ships-arks are sent, “crushed” by the colonists staying in suspended animation. Four of these "galleons" fly away. The human is called "Hyperion", it has 20 thousand passengers in suspended animation and the action of the first act of Mass Effect: Andromeda unfolds.
The main character at some point comes out of suspended animation, stretches sweetly and discovers that everyone else is still asleep, and the "Hyperion" itself has deviated from the course and is now about some unknown place. The situation is complicated by the fact that the space around the ship is filled with certain energetic substances, which they decide to call "Filth".
And now the main character has to find a new home for 20 thousand people, deal with the "Filth" and the reasons for its origin, get acquainted with aggressive and not very alien races and just explore Andromeda. In general, doing everything for which we love Mass Effect so much. Only - in another galaxy.
Mass Effect: Andromeda Gameplay
In terms of gameplay, Mass Effect: Andromeda quite confidently combines the features of action and RPG. Only all this is a little simpler than in its predecessors. For example, the role model has not received a clear link to the character class, and the main character is a full-fledged jack of all trades. If the player is tired of pumping certain skills, at any time you can transfer all the experience points gained to other skills. And now the "biotic" with a slight movement of the hand turns into an engineer, soldier or scout.
But where BioWare Montreal did their best - it's the romantic component of the game. No, there are no walks along the beach with 80s rock ballads, unfortunately. But you can "spin a relationship" with almost any character, regardless of gender and race - many of them are either bisexual or homosexual. For this, the Canadian studio, of course, "caught" dislike from many players, being accused of paying too much attention to diving instead of fixing the facial animation of the characters.
Ironically, BioWare Montreal received a flurry of criticism from the so-called SJWs - they say, all these homomantic relationships are developing too stereotypically, and gay characters are shown differently from reality. In general, having tried to please everyone, the company was unable to please anyone. And it also messed up the facial animation of the characters (okay, in fairness, in one of the last patches it was nevertheless corrected, so you can enjoy these incredibly natural jaw movements and meaningful looks tomorrow only in videos on YouTube). p>
Mass Effect: Andromeda Multiplayer
Mass Effect: Andromeda, of course, also has a multiplayer mode. Because where in modern games is without it? As in previous projects in the series, some achievements in the multiplayer mode of Mass Effect: Andromeda are carried over to the singleplayer, but they do not affect the ending, unlike the co-op in the third part.
The multiplayer mode is quite traditional for the series and is a co-op in which a team of 2-4 people must hold out for a while while they are attacked by waves of evil alien enemies. Sometimes at the same time it is necessary to defuse bombs, hack systems, and so on.
In multiplayer, a system of loot boxes works, which are bought for in-game currency (and you can buy it for real money). These crates contain not only new items of equipment, but also characters for the multiplayer mode.
